ree

Character-filled charms and modern renovations combine in the grand, five-bedroom mansion (plus a Loft) that is Hampton House.

Located at 307 Hampton Ave in Pickens, South Carolina, the Historic Hampton House 1908 is a dream location for weddings, family gatherings, and a multitude of other events.

Love, Joy, Hope, Calm, Peace, and the Loft: the six bedrooms that comprise the beautiful Hampton House mansion. Each one has its own unique flair, charm, and character that set it apart from a typical guest room, and each one is an essential part of the house. Read on to discover all that these bedrooms and the many other rooms of the house have to offer!

Love

ree

There is nothing not to love about our Love Room! Serving as the heart of the bridal suite, the Love Room connects right to the house’s living room, creating a private, spacious, and elegant area for the bridal party to get ready together while keeping the couple separated before the ceremony!

This layout offers flexibility and calm—providing the bride with the option to send everyone into the living room and enjoy a few peaceful moments behind closed doors.

ree

Love’s bathroom is a dream, complete with a freestanding soaking tub and a rain shower. Gorgeous windows flood the space with natural light and are original to the sun room that once stood in this very spot.

With spectacular garden views, easy access to the kitchen, a comfy king-sized bed, and a charming “ready room”, this suite is as functional as it is beautiful—making it the perfect place to begin any event, especially your wedding day!

Joy

ree

Historic charm meets modern magic in our Joy Room, a luxurious retreat tucked away on the second floor of the Hampton House mansion. With its generous layout and thoughtful amenities—including a plush king-sized bed—it serves as a perfect honeymoon suite or an elegant spot for an overnight stay.

ree

The adjacent primary bathroom elevates the experience even further. Originally used to store the family's travelling trunks, this space has since been transformed into a lavish oasis. The reclaimed bathtub—salvaged from a demolished bathroom during renovations—adds a touch of vintage character.

The standout feature, however, is the stunning double vanity stretching over twelve feet. Above it, two color-changing LED mirrors offer three different lighting settings: sunlight (yellowish tint), photography (bright white tint), and DJ (cool blue tint). Clicking through each setting ensures that your makeup is ready for every stage of your celebration!

Hope

ree

Bright, inviting, and full of personality, the Hope Room is a second-story haven that blends classic character with contemporary convenience. Featuring an original fireplace and beautiful treetop views, Hope offers a cozy and peaceful atmosphere that is perfect for a fun and restful night.

ree

Thanks to its generous size, we were able to add a full ensuite bathroom while still keeping plenty of space for a magnificent king-sized bed. Hope’s bedroom includes an LED mirror with color-changing lighting—ideal for getting ready in any mood or moment.

With elegant details and luxury accommodations, the Hope Room is a perfect fit for guests looking for both beauty and comfort.

Calm

ree

Take a deep breath and unwind in our Calm Room, a tranquil king-sized room on the second floor of the Historic Hampton House 1908. With lovely soft tones and room to breathe, it is ideal for parents seeking their own space, friends sharing a weekend getaway, or anyone in need of a restorative escape.

ree

An original 1920s vanity and matching stool add a touch of vintage elegance and history to the room, perfect for getting ready at your own pace. Whether you’re winding down from wedding festivities or just looking to reconnect and recharge, Calm is your serene sanctuary.

Peace

ree

This brilliant suite shares a modernized Jack and Jill bathroom with the adjacent Calm Room. Originally serving as the sewing room in the 1920s, it has since been transformed into a bright, contemporary, space.

ree

The Peace Room itself features two twin beds framed by an original fireplace and a vintage-style full vanity—perfect for getting ready in timeless comfort. Charming touches like a vintage Snow White calendar image and a mini Radio Flyer wagon add character and nostalgia to the cozy second-floor hideaway.

Book both rooms, Calm and Peace, together and create a spacious, connected suite with something for everyone—whether it be your family or your closest friends.

The Rest of the House

The many other beautiful rooms of the Hampton House mansion each hold their own charismatic qualities. Each space brims with personality, charm, and perhaps a few delightful mysteries.

The Ladies’ Parlor

ree

One of the first rooms of the house, this elegant parlor features an eye-catching green tile fireplace, the very hue that inspired our signature “Hampton House” green. Framed by intricate Tiger Oak woodwork, this space invites guests to gather, relax, and admire the craftsmanship of a bygone area.

The Dining Room

ree

Although each aspect of this stunning room deserves its own praise, one of our favorite details is the beautifully preserved built-in buffet—perfectly blending form with function. Look closely, and you will notice something curious: the built-ins are not identical! One is nearly six inches deeper than the other, an unconventional architectural decision that we’ve grown to love.

The Kitchen

ree

When combined with the gathering room, our renovated chef’s kitchen accommodates up to thirty guests with many customizable options. Using the original blueprints as our guide, the former kitchen and back porch space were transformed into a modern chef’s dream kitchen.  The cabinets reach over ten feet tall, perfect for both extra storage and grounding elegance in such a large space.  The oversized kitchen island top is a full marble slab, and the six burner range sits in the location of the original kitchen fireplace.  Last but not least, the green backsplash tiles were installed with a chevron pattern to provide the stylish whimsy found throughout the Historic Hampton House 1908.

The Gathering Room

ree

Believe it or not, this cozy communal area was once the home’s original bathroom and porch! During the renovation, the original spaces were transformed into a bright and welcoming room that opens directly into the kitchen, connecting the heart of the house with warmth and hospitality.  This area allows family and friends to gather around the chef and enjoy the fruits of their labor!

The Butler’s Nook

ree

A genuine gem of early 20th century designs, our butler’s nook is truly a space you can only find in historic homes like the Hampton House. Nestled between the kitchen and the dining room, it’s a charming reminder of how the home once functioned—and it is still incredibly useful today.  The Butler’s pantry is filled with China dishware and cutlery representative of what was used in the house when it was first built.

The Powder Room & The Laundry Room

ree

Formerly the nanny’s quarters, this area has been reimagined as a convenient, pleasing, and necessary powder room and laundry room. It serves as yet another example of how we have updated the home for modern living and modern events while still honoring its original layout.

The Original Blueprints

ree

Hanging in both the first and second floor foyers, you will find seven of the house’s original architectural blueprints. These priceless documents have been reframed with museum-grade materials to preserve them for current and future generations. They provide beautiful glimpses into the home’s early 1900s incredible design and detail.

Some Fun Discoveries

ree

Renovating a historic home certainly always comes with surprises. For us that included pulling fourteen toilets out from underneath the house—yes, fourteen! And if that was not enough, we discovered the original water cistern still sitting in the attic. The cistern, along with the building’s original safe located at the bottom of the grand staircase, help us remember the remarkable history of our beautiful mansion.

The Loft

ree

Tucked among the trees above our modernized Carriage House, the Hampton Loft is a stylish, self-contained studio space designed for both charm and comfort. With a mid-century modern aesthetic, this unique retreat sleeps up to four people and is ideal for a cheerful weekend getaway, a lovely family stay, or a “ready room” for the perfect wedding day.

ree

The inspiration for the Loft came from the original all-in-one kitchen unit that was in place when the house was purchased. Still fully functional, the vintage range and oven were thoughtfully preserved and incorporated into the updated design—blending character with convenience.

Cool, private, and full of personality, the Loft offers a peaceful escape just steps away from the Hampton House Mansion.

The Backyard

ree

The Backyard of the Historic Hampton House 1908 is truly what event dreams are made of. The second you walk out the door, a spacious wrap-around porch and a back deck greet you, allowing you to enjoy the picturesque greenspace. Gorgeous, full trees surround the property, providing seclusion, peace, and lushness to each event, and blossoming flowers only enhance the beauty.

ree

There are two main event areas located here: the Carriage House and the Pavilion. The Carriage House, renovated from an old garage, now provides ample indoor-outdoor space for up to 120 guests. Reclaimed lumber from an old barn was used to create the accent wall, and the sink used in the building’s modern restrooms was reclaimed from the woods on the property. Complete with a catering prep kitchen, decorative chalkboards, and a built-in bar, the Carriage House is equipped for any and all events, from baby showers to birthday parties to wedding receptions.

ree

Added to estate grounds within recent years, the Pavilion is a vast party tent tucked within the trees. An interior filled with golden accents and white lanterns sets the scene for a perfect garden party or wedding reception. With space for up to two hundred guests, the Pavilion tent is an ideal space for larger parties in any season.
